Booking The Experience
The Bourke Family offer a fully guided cultural adventure, on well developed trails, conducted at a leisurely pace that is suitable for all ages.
Visitors will experience scenery that will take your breath away.
Pristine sandy beaches, waterfalls and woodlands on the slopes of Mweelrea, the highest mountain in the west of Ireland and enjoy unique views of the Killary fjord.
The Lost Valley has remained largely untouched since the villagers were evicted and driven out during ‘The Great Famine’ of the mid 1800’s. The tumbled down walls of their cabins, the multitude of potato plots they left behind, even the stones removed from the rocky soil remain in clusters, exactly as they left them, giving testament to the hardships they endured.
All groups are accompanied by two guides, usually Maureen and Gerard Bourke, who are the farm owners.

Visiting The Lost Valley
Reviewed 24 August 2015
This is one of the most spectacular walks you will ever encounter. The sheer beauty of the area encompassing wonderful sea and mountain views is beyond description. You are far from the normal "tourist" trips here as your hosts are the latest generation of a family that has lived, loved, hated, and adored this land that gave them succour and fed them for the last three centuries. Their intimate knowledge, not only of the land as it is today but of their actual family history and that of their historical neighbours that have long since departed Uggool, is a facination in social history that you won't find written in the history books.
The Lost Valley - Beyond the end of the road - Silver Strand - Killadoon - Louisburgh - Co. Mayo
It is essential to book in advance as this is an active working farm.
